This is the forest primeval

2025

16mm to HD video, 2 channel, 6'44

Unfolds through a shadow landscape of plants and animals. Through gestures of doubling and transformation, the work reflects on mimicry, inheritance, and the delicate choreography between care and transgression. The title, drawn from the opening line of Evangeline: A Tale of Acadie, conjures a mythic forest. It also invokes the rhythm of the dactyl—a metrical foot whose name comes from the Greek for “finger,” composed of one long and two short syllables.
